In late September, the Lutheran High Cross Country team competed in the Heartland Classic, a multi-state high school cross country meet hosted by the Central College Cross Country program. The meet was hosted in Pella, Iowa. Competing in all four divisions (JV Girls, JV Boys, Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys), the Cougars competed against teams and runners hailing from Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska.

Fourteen Lutheran High student-athletes established new personal records at the meet. In addition, senior Caleb Lind reached the medalist stand in the Varsity Boys division, placing 8th in the competitive race.
