Do you have any expired or unneeded prescription medications in your home? You can safely dispose of them free of charge, no questions asked, at the National Rx Take Back Event, sponsored by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.

The event takes place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the St. Peters Justice Center and at police stations across St. Charles County. Police cannot accept any medications before or after the event.

The Justice Center is located at 1020 Grand Teton Drive, at the corner of Suemandy Drive near Mid Rivers Mall. To locate other disposal sites, visit dea.gov

All prescription medications will be accepted with no questions asked. Those who wish to remain anonymous should remove identifying information from container labels before disposal. Caps on liquid products, such as cough syrup, should be tightly sealed.

The program is for prescription drugs only; no over-the-counter medications will be accepted. Intravenous solutions, injectables and needles, and illegal substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not part of this program.

This free event is open to the public.
