There are few people in the St. Louis metropolitan area who don't know or haven't tasted the food selections at Cecil Whittaker's Pizzeria. With dining-in, carryout and delivery almost faster than you can place your order, Cecil's has made a name for itself with a menu selection to please everyone. Cecil Whitaker's Pizzeria is a household name, whether you have an urge for pizza, pastas, salads, sandwiches, appetizers or more. But above all, it's likely their St. Louis-style pizza that brings people calling. Manager Tim Cervenka of the Spencer Creek Plaza restaurant said on a Friday evening Cecil's off Jungermann Road delivers about 150 to 200 pizzas in a dinner rush between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. "An order is taken, we make the food, and on Friday we have five to seven drivers, or a manager who all take it upon themselves to route themselves out to the homes," Cervenka said. It takes about five to seven minutes to prepare the pizza and get it on its way, Cervenka said. In the pizza world, Cecil Whittakers' most popular is sausage and pepperoni, but the deluxe is also a big seller, Cervenka said. As one of the three top St. Louis-style pizza restaurants, Cecil Whittaker's Pizzeria offers a distinct, thin style pizza that is most notable with its Provel cheese blend and tangy sweet sauce. Cecil's pizza is available with mozzarella cheese upon request. Its popular thin crust can be layered deeply with many different toppings. Cecil's Deluxe Pizza features a combination of sausage, mushrooms, onions, green pepper and bacon. The restaurant also feature a hand-tossed pizza, with a delicious hand-tossed crust loaded with mozzarella cheese and your choice of toppings. It is available in extra-large only, and there is an additional $1 charge per pizza. Prices are no problem at Cecil Whittakers, with discount coupons arriving in your mail almost daily and specials constantly offered. The Meat Lovers Pizza brings a combination of pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, bacon and Canadian bacon to create a hearty meal for a group gathering or a hungry family. For the vegetarians among us, try Cecil's Deluxe Veggie Pizza covered with black olives, onions, mushrooms, green peppers and tomatoes. What many who are addicted to Cecil's Pizza forget is the collection of sandwiches, salads and appetizers offered by Cecil Whittakers. The Cecil's Special - the king among sandwiches - is served hot or cold with ham, roast beef, salami and cheese and all the trimmings. Another St. Louis-style favorite is the BBQ Pork Steak, a boneless pork steak smothered in BBQ sauce on a toasted hoagie roll. Fish, like the Cecil's spicy battered Icelandic filet of cod, is served on a toasted hoagie roll. Cecil's also carries a long list of pasta favorites made fresh daily, including cannelloni, mostaccioli, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna and more. Top it all off with a Cecil's salad, a favorite with provel cheese and Cecil's own unique salad dressing. Appetizers like cheese garlic bread, and toasted ravioli, chicken wings, potato skins and mozzarella sticks are all big, Cervenka said. Soda, coffee and tea and draught beer are sold. "You name it, we've got it all, and I don't think we have any that don't sell well." Cervenka said. "You can pretty much get anything you want here." In the St. Peters area Cecil Whittakers at 632 Jungermann Road in Spencer Creek Plaza is a great place to dine in or call for speedy delivery.
