There’s Plenty To Enjoy At Buckets Bar And GrillBy Mary Ann O'Toole Holley
Buckets Bar and Grill at 7843 Dardenne Town Square (near the new Target and JC Penney stores) is a fun, friendly eatery and watering hole dedicated to providing you with a comfortable and inexpensive atmosphere. Owners Tiffany and Bill Engels strive to offer great food, friendly staff and fabulous entertainment — be it a mid-week rock ‘n roll band, karaoke, a DJ spinning the tunes or trivia challenge nights. Entertainment and service are the critical keys to the atmosphere at Bucket’s. “We have live bands in every weekend and music on the patio for happy hour as well,” Tiffany said. “The karaoke on Thursdays offers cash prizes each week so the best talent in the area will want to come. Trivia Challenge on Monday is a riot of fun and it’s Ladies Night, too. “We want people to make friends and laugh so their time spent at Bucket’s is a pleasure,” she said. The Engels know the local bar scene and have created the kind of place they would want to go themselves. There are video games, shuffleboard and the bartenders were all hand-picked based on their reputations for excellent service. Opening less than a month ago, buddies and best girlfriends have found their niche at Bucket’s — where the atmosphere is always casual and the side tables always cozy. Bucket’s is an accommodating respite for families or friends. With its sleek bar and a separate dining room Bucket’s has a place for everyone, and everyone has their place. For those who choose to dine in the open air, there’s a quaint outdoor patio perfect for an evening under the stars or an afternoon in the warm summer sun. Families are welcome for Bucket’s food and fun, but when the sun sets at 9 p.m., that’s when buckets are often filled with longnecks and it’s time for bellying up to the bar. In the “Cheap Eats and Starters” department, lunches come “bucket style” with entrees like a Bucket O’ Shrimp, featuring 12 delicious peel ‘n’ eat shrimp served with zesty cocktail sauce and a lemon wedge ($3.49). Their Bucket O’ Jumbo Wings combines a hearty helping of 12 wings marinated in not too hot sauce, celery sticks to cool the palate and a choice of bleu cheese or ranch dipping sauce ($6.89). There are buckets of waffle fries, loaded nachos, chicken bites and even a bucket of crawfish served Cajun style. When it comes to kids’ meals, gleaming metal buckets are banished in favor of a souvenir Bucket’s bucket perfect for a day in the sandbox when the youngsters get home. But if a bucket isn’t your bag, there are plenty of other menu items from which to choose. All of Bucket’s sandwich board items are served with great taste, pride and presentation. Each comes with a side salad, pasta salad, Cole slaw or waffle fries. Oh, and for a buck, you can load the fries with cheesy sauces and more. Bucket’s “Original” features tender steak with melted Swiss cheese, topped with jumbo onion rings ($7.99). The Gyro is authentic, of course, with lamb and beef served on a pita with onion, tomato and tzatziki sauce ($6.99) For hearty eaters there’s the Big Bucket burger — the tastiest, biggest burger you’ll ever eat for the price ($4.89) and for another buck you can load it with chili and cheese. There are plenty of side items at Buckets, and the children’s menu will make you smile, but the hands-on games and fun surrounding you will have you leaving with laughter. Be sure to ask about the daily lunch and dinner specials, and keep your eyes open for special events planned for the future. Each month the calendar of events changes. Bucket’s also boasts an All-You-Can-Eat and Drink Sunday Brunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for only $11.89. Bucket’s is available for private parties, birthdays, office parties and more. Bucket’s is located near Hwy. N and Hwy. 40/61, one mile south of Lake Saint Louis Blvd. in Dardenne Prairie.
