Cappuccino’s Coffee Café Offers Much More Than CoffeeBy Mary Ann O'Toole Holley
One step through the door of Cappuccino’s Coffee Café and you know this MUST be the place. The aroma of brewing coffee permeates the room. Warm walls, much like the color of a freshly brewed latte and etched concrete floors the shade of Cappuccino’s Carmel Machiato warm the senses even before that first sip. Cozy tables and comfy chairs are scattered about, and there’s even a warm and inviting seating area where you can sip a vanilla latte in front of a crackling fireplace. Cappuccino’s Coffee Café at 840 Bryan Rd., just off Hwy. 70, is owned and operated by Wendy Meyerson and her silent-partner husband, Lewis, a family practice physician in Troy. It’s a perfect place to drop in and doodle, a comfortable respite for a weary morning, a fun-filled place for afternoon luncheon or a relaxing spot for a light dinner. Cappuccino’s Coffee Café is almost anything you want it to be. “Lots of people think there’s only coffee and such at Cappuccino’s Coffee Café, but don’t let the name fool you,” Meyerson said. Cappuccino’s has a fuller than full menu with breakfast served anytime, an extensive lunch selection, a “just for kids” menu, and, of course, plenty of sweets and coffee with specialties like the Milky Way Mocha, White Tiger Mocha and Caramel Silk Latte. Opt for assorted muffins, brown sugar, honey or raisin oatmeal, cinnamon rolls ($2.70) and more for a morning get together. Thick, creamy slices of cheesecake fill a platter, and there are breakfast bagels, burritos and more. The Danish pastries are big sellers, Meyerson said, pointing out the plumped flaky creations swirled with fresh fruit. Sandwiches served with a dill spear and chips or side salad (for an extra 99 cents) sells for around $5.99. There’s the turkey club, classic club, ham and Swiss, chicken or tuna salad and a crisp BLT to choose from. But if that’s not enough, opt for a wrap, including a spicy buffalo wrap ($6.49) or a veggie wrap ($5.89) featuring cucumber layered with lettuce and tomato, topped with cool dill dressing and tucked inside a spinach tortilla wrap. Two semi-private rooms provide for eight to 10 people each, allowing the scheduling of serious meetings or raucous get-togethers with the girls. Cappuccino’s even caters, Meyerson said. So, don’t hesitate to have Cappuccino’s come to you. “I love the business,” said Wendy Meyerson, a self-proclaimed stay-at-home mother of four for the past 10 years who made her break away from one hectic life to another. “I love being involved. I love people. I just love this place.” Meyerson has put plenty of love into her new venture. Everything from the Zoka’s coffee from Seattle to the Parcheesi game board in the gathering area was personally selected. In the mix is a menu that soothes the soul from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., with plenty of coffee selections, lattes, mochas and espressos. Go for a “tall, a grande or a venti” ($2.45-$3.45) and you’re sure to start your day off right or end your day with a smile. Monin syrups enhance the drink selections, with vanilla, hazelnut, banana, cherry, frosted mint, caramel, almond, raspberry, a yummy praline, gingerbread, strawberry, coconut and an Irish cream. “And don’t forget the drive-thru,” Meyerson says. “One quick stop off Hwy. 70 at Bryan Road and you’re on your way.” Frappes, smoothies and even frappes for kids fill the menu. How luscious will it be to share a chocolate marshmallow frappe with your best boy or girl during a day out or a special morning treat? Cappuccino’s Coffee Café is open seven days a week and available for parties, birthdays, wedding and baby showers, bachelor and bachelorette parties; and office, club and group meetings. Gift certificates and “perks rewards” with spending tracker are available.
