Cardinal Ritter Senior Services and St. Robert Bellarmine Parish will celebrate the first year anniversary of the St. Robert Adult Day Program with an open house from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at 1424 First Capitol Drive South in St. Charles. The goal of this Adult Enrichment Program is to assist families that are caring for senior adults who cannot be left alone during the day. For more information, call 636-916-3709.

 

Wednesday, July 2


Workshops for children in grades six through eight who want to learn advanced art techniques are being offered from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 2 and July 3 and July 16 and July 17, at the Foundry Art Centre in Saint Charles. Class sizes are small to accommodate the more advanced lessons and older students. "Earth, Wind and Fire" is offered July 2 and July 3 and will use elements of the earth, movement and heat to create mosaics and wind sculptures. "Baubles, Beads and Bangles" is offered July 16 and July 17 and will send participants home with one-of-a-kind jewelry items and accessories. A Fourth of July celebration will be held at 6 p.m. on July 3, at LifeSpring Community Church, 1615 Thoele Road in St. Peters. Admission is free. The event will feature huge children's inflatables, carnival games and prizes, a concession stand, an outdoor concert and a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. For more information, call 636-922-1615.

The History Theatre at St. Charles Community College will hold non-equity auditions for “Isaac and Harry,” a new play written and directed by Gil Nussbaum from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., July 11, at the Performing Arts Center at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., July 12 and July 13, in the main auditorium of the social sciences building on the campus of St. Charles Community College. The play is about segregation in the military and the desegregation of the United States Armed Forces, by presidential executive order, on July 26, 1948. The play has 10 roles, all male.

Camp Invention will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 14 through July 18, at Messiah Lutheran School. Camp Invention, for children currently in kindergarten through fifth grade, is a national science and creativity day camp that inspires a passion for science by combining scientific concepts with lots of fun. Community Living’s Big Kahuna Celebrity Bartender Challenge will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on July 24, at Side Pockets restaurant and bar in St. Charles. Youth In Need will hold its 11th annual Golfing for Youth Benefit Tournament starting at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 11, at Whitmoor Country Club in St. Charles. Funds raised at the tournament will benefit Youth In Need’s programs and services that provide crisis prevention and intervention services to more than 10,000 children, teens and families in St. Louis City and County and St. Charles, Lincoln, Warren and Montgomery counties. The four-person scramble is $275 per golfer and includes a social hour with open bar, dinner, silent and live auctions and prize holes. Sponsorships are still available. “Taste of Lake Saint Louis" will premiere from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 23, at the grand opening for The Meadows at Lake Saint Louis lifestyle center, located at I-64 and Lake Saint Louis Boulevard. Davis Street Land Company will sponsor the food-fest, offering patrons palette-pleasers prepared by nearly a dozen area restaurants at a nominal price. While tasting the culinary array, diners will be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the shopping enclave and family entertainment marking the grand opening. The day-long festivities will include music by both Groovethang and Twist & Shout, a hot air balloon glow and a fireworks finale at 9 p.m.
